General Labourer
The Mail Sorting Clerk is responsible for receiving, sorting, organizing, and distributing incoming and outgoing mail and parcels in a timely and accurate manner. This role ensures that mail is properly processed, tracked, and delivered to the correct departments or recipients while maintaining confidentiality and adhering to company procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Sort and organize incoming mail by department, individual recipient, or delivery route
- Prepare outgoing mail and packages (including weighing, labeling, and bundling)
- Verify addresses, postage, and delivery requirements
- Operate mailroom equipment such as postage meters, scanners, labeling machines, and folding/inserting machines (if applicable)
- Track deliveries and maintain records for courier pickups and drop-offs
- Coordinate with couriers (Fed Ex, UPS, Purolator, Canada Post) for scheduled pickups
- Handle confidential documents with discretion and in accordance with privacy policies
- Perform basic data entry for mail logs and shipping documentation
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
- Assist with other clerical tasks as needed (filing, copying, scanning)
- Previous experience in mailroom, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or logistics
- Experience using barcode scanners or shipping software
- Familiarity with courier systems and packaging standards
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks
- Basic computer skills (email, tracking systems, spreadsheets)
- Ability to lift and move parcels (typically up to 25–40 lbs; confirm based on your workplace)
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
