About the Role

Our client, a prominent tourism board in the scenic Paarl region, is seeking an innovative Tourism Product Development Specialist to conceptualize and launch new, exciting tourism experiences. This role is pivotal in diversifying the region's tourism offerings and enhancing its appeal to both domestic and international visitors. You will conduct market research, identify emerging trends, and collaborate with local businesses and stakeholders to create unique and sustainable tourism products.

The ideal candidate is a creative thinker with a strong understanding of the tourism industry, excellent project management skills, and a passion for showcasing the unique cultural and natural assets of the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research and identify opportunities for new tourism products and experiences, analyzing market trends, competitor offerings, and visitor needs.
  • Collaborate with local businesses, tourism operators, and community groups to develop innovative and high-quality tourism products and packages.
  • Manage the product development lifecycle from concept generation and feasibility assessment to pilot testing and full-scale launch.
  • Develop business cases and feasibility studies for new tourism initiatives, including financial projections and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate workshops and training sessions for tourism stakeholders to build capacity in product development and service delivery.
  • Monitor the performance of launched products, gathering feedback and making recommendations for improvements and adaptations.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in tourism product development, destination marketing, or a related field within the tourism sector.
  • Proven ability to research, conceptualize, and develop new tourism products and experiences.
  • Strong understanding of market analysis, feasibility studies, and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills, with the ability to build collaborative relationships.
  • A relevant degree in Tourism Management, Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field.
