About the Role

Our client is seeking a sharp and analytical Agricultural Economist to join their team in Paarl . This role is focused on analyzing economic factors affecting the agricultural sector, providing insights and strategic advice to optimize farm profitability and sustainability. You will conduct market research, financial analysis, and forecasting to support business decisions for agricultural enterprises. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of economic principles applied to agriculture, excellent quantitative skills, and the ability to translate complex data into actionable recommendations for stakeholders in the farming and agribusiness industries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze market trends, commodity prices, and economic factors impacting the agricultural sector.
  • Develop financial models and forecasts to assess the economic viability of agricultural projects and investments.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses and advise on resource allocation for farming operations.
  • Evaluate agricultural policies and their economic implications.
  • Prepare detailed economic reports, presentations, and recommendations for management and clients.
  • Monitor agricultural supply chains and identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Proven experience in economic analysis, preferably within the agricultural or agribusiness sector.
  • Strong quantitative and statistical analysis skills, with proficiency in econometric software.
  • Excellent research, report writing, and presentation abilities.
  • Knowledge of agricultural markets, policies, and production systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on complex economic issues.
