Senior Urban Planner

About the Role

Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Urban Planner to lead strategic planning initiatives and community development projects in Stellenbosch . This role involves developing comprehensive urban plans, managing planning applications, and engaging with stakeholders to foster sustainable and livable urban environments. You will leverage your expertise in spatial planning, policy development, and community engagement to shape the future growth of this historic region.

• Develop and implement strategic urban planning policies and frameworks.
• Manage the preparation and assessment of development applications and rezoning proposals.
• Conduct spatial analysis, feasibility studies, and impact assessments for proposed developments.
• Facilitate stakeholder engagement, including public consultations and workshops.
• Liaise with government authorities, developers, and community groups to achieve planning objectives.
• Provide expert advice on urban design, land use, and environmental planning issues in Stellenbosch .

• Master's degree in Urban Planning, Urban Design, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in urban planning and development, preferably within municipal or consultancy settings.
• Strong understanding of South African planning legislation and policy frameworks.
• Proficiency in GIS software and other relevant planning and design tools.
• Excellent analytical, report writing, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex planning projects and engage diverse stakeholder groups.
