Stellenbosch University's Faculty of Science, Centre for Bioinformatics and Computational Biology (CBCB), invites applications for a Lecturer position in Bioinformatics to be based on the Stellenbosch campus. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a leading research centre while building your own research programme and developing the next generation of bioinformatics professionals. • Teach bioinformatics modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels
• Select and administer postgraduate students within the CBCB
• Supervise BSc Honours, MSc, and PhD students
• Continuously update and develop undergraduate and postgraduate curricula to reflect advances in the field
• Administer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes to ensure their effective operation
• Establish and develop a research group, preferably focused on machine learning and artificial intelligence applications in biology
• Compete for and secure research funding at local and international levels
• Build collaborative research networks within the University and with national and international partners
• Participate in the general operation of the CBCB as directed by the Director

• MSc in Bioinformatics (for Junior Lecturer appointment) or PhD in Bioinformatics (for Lecturer appointment)
• Proficiency in Python and R programming languages
• Fluent communication in English
• Demonstrated publication record in respected peer-reviewed journals
• For Lecturer-level appointment: evidence of successfully supervising BSc Honours and MSc graduates in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
