About the Role
Our client is looking for a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join their vibrant product development team in Stellenbosch . This role is central to the innovation and creation of new products, requiring a blend of creative design and rigorous engineering analysis. You will work on the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept generation to final production, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will possess a keen eye for detail, a passion for elegant engineering solutions, and the ability to adapt to a hybrid work environment that encourages both individual focus and team synergy, contributing to the company's success through impactful product innovation.
- Design, develop, and test mechanical components and sub-systems for new product introductions, using advanced CAD software.
- Conduct feasibility studies, tolerance analyses, and performance simulations to ensure design viability and functionality.
- Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) for manufacturing.
- Work closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and marketing teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions.
- Support prototype development, product validation, and failure analysis activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing product design and manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development roles.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (e.g., Solid Works, CATIA) and familiarity with simulation tools.
- Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining), and product testing methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities, suited for a hybrid work setting.
