Geophysicist - Seismic Interpretation

About the Role

Our client is seeking a talented Geophysicist with expertise in seismic interpretation to join their exploration team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This role is essential for identifying and evaluating potential hydrocarbon prospects by analyzing seismic data and integrating it with other geological and geophysical information. You will be responsible for building robust subsurface models, characterizing geological structures, and contributing critical insights to exploration strategies within the company's diverse portfolio.

• Perform detailed seismic data interpretation to identify geological structures, traps, and potential hydrocarbon reservoirs.
• Integrate seismic data with well logs, core data, and other geophysical information to create comprehensive subsurface models.
• Conduct seismic attribute analysis and inversion studies to better understand reservoir properties.
• Evaluate exploration opportunities and assess associated geological risks.
• Collaborate with geologists, reservoir engineers, and management to support exploration and development decisions.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations detailing seismic interpretations and prospect evaluations for the Stellenbosch office.

• Master's degree or PhD in Geophysics, Physics, or a related quantitative science.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in seismic interpretation for exploration in the Oil & Gas sector .
• Proficiency with industry-standard seismic interpretation software (e.g., Petrel, Kingdom Suite, Opend Tect).
• Strong understanding of seismic data acquisition, processing, and data quality control.
• Experience with 3D visualization and volumetric analysis techniques.
