About the Role
Our client is seeking a skilled Telecommunications Field Engineer to support their network infrastructure across the Stellenbosch region and beyond. This role involves the installation, configuration, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment, ensuring seamless connectivity for clients. You will be responsible for site surveys, technical troubleshooting, and ensuring that all deployed systems meet performance and reliability standards. The ideal candidate is adept at working with various telecommunications technologies and thrives in a field-based role that requires problem-solving and client interaction within the dynamic environment of the Western Cape , contributing to the reliable delivery of communication services.
Key Responsibilities- Install, configure, and test telecommunications equipment, including routers, switches, antennas, and fiber optic systems.
- Perform regular maintenance and troubleshooting on existing network infrastructure to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct site surveys and assess requirements for new installations or network upgrades.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to voice and data communication systems.
- Ensure all work adheres to company standards, safety regulations, and client specifications.
- Document all technical activities, including installation details, configurations, and troubleshooting steps taken in Stellenbosch.
- Proven experience as a Telecommunications Field Engineer or similar role.
- Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, and wireless technologies.
- Familiarity with fiber optics, copper cabling, and associated installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, blueprints, and specifications.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the Western Cape for site visits.
