About the Role

Our client is seeking an innovative and experienced Process Engineer to join their chemical manufacturing operations in Paarl. This role is central to optimizing production processes, enhancing efficiency, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a safe working environment. You will be involved in process design, implementation, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives within the plant. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in chemical engineering principles and a proven track record of successfully improving manufacturing processes in a complex industrial setting.

This is a key position within the company's technical team in the Western Cape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize chemical manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, yield, and product quality.
  • Troubleshoot process issues, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime and waste.
  • Conduct process studies, simulations, and pilot tests to evaluate new technologies and improvements.
  • Ensure that all processes comply with relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with production, maintenance, and R&D teams to ensure seamless integration of process changes.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including P&IDs, SOPs, and process safety information.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in process engineering within the chemical manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of chemical processes, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and reaction engineering.
  • Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically and analytically.
  • Experience with process safety management (PSM) and hazard analysis techniques (e.g., HAZOP) is essential.
