About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly competent Maintenance Engineer to join their power generation facility in Paarl. This crucial role involves planning, executing, and overseeing all mechanical and electrical maintenance activities to ensure maximum plant availability and efficiency. You will be instrumental in implementing robust preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, minimizing equipment failures, and ensuring compliance with all safety and environmental standards.
This is a significant opportunity to contribute to the operational excellence of a key energy asset.
- Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance plans for all plant equipment, including turbines, generators, boilers, and auxiliary systems.
- Manage a team of maintenance technicians and supervisors, ensuring efficient task allocation and performance.
- Oversee the repair, overhaul, and upgrade of mechanical and electrical components.
- Implement and monitor predictive maintenance programs using techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies during all maintenance activities.
- Manage spare parts inventory and ensure timely procurement of necessary equipment and materials.
- Analyze maintenance data to identify trends, root causes of failures, and opportunities for improvement.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in maintenance engineering, with at least 4 years in a supervisory or management role within the power generation or heavy industrial sector.
- Professional Engineer (Pr. Eng.) or Professional Engineering Technologist (Pr. Tech. Eng.) registration is highly desirable.
- Proven expertise in maintenance planning, CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems), and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM).
- Strong knowledge of rotating machinery, power plant systems, and safety procedures.
