Chemical Engineer - Petrochemical Processes

Our client is seeking a skilled Chemical Engineer with expertise in Petrochemical Processes to join their team in Stellenbosch . This role focuses on optimizing and managing complex petrochemical operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and environmental compliance. You will be involved in process design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives within a demanding industrial environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong theoretical background coupled with practical experience in the petrochemical sector.

• Analyze and optimize petrochemical processes for improved yield, energy efficiency, and product quality.
• Develop and implement process improvements, including equipment modifications and operational changes.
• Monitor plant performance, troubleshoot process deviations, and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant environmental, health, and safety regulations.
• Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and P&IDs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, maintenance, and research.

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
• 5+ years of experience in the petrochemical industry, with a focus on process engineering.
• Strong understanding of petrochemical unit operations (e.g., distillation, cracking, reforming).
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Experience with process safety management (PSM) principles.
