About the Role

Our client is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Aircraft Stress Analyst to join their engineering department in Stellenbosch. This entry-level position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the structural integrity analysis of aircraft components and structures under the guidance of experienced engineers. You will perform stress calculations, finite element analysis (FEA), and support testing activities to ensure designs meet safety and performance requirements.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic foundation in mechanical or aerospace engineering, a passion for structural mechanics, and a desire to learn and grow within the aerospace industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform linear and non-linear static stress analysis on aircraft components and structures using FEA software.
  • Assist in the development and validation of structural models and analysis methodologies.
  • Interpret analysis results and generate detailed reports, highlighting critical stress areas and potential issues.
  • Support engineers in defining load cases and boundary conditions for structural analysis.
  • Collaborate with design engineers to provide feedback on structural design improvements for optimal performance and weight efficiency.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to ensuring compliance with aerospace structural design standards.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field with a focus on structural mechanics.
  • Academic exposure or internship experience in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and structural mechanics.
  • Familiarity with FEA software packages such as ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar.
  • Basic understanding of aircraft structures, materials, and failure modes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and teamwork in Stellenbosch.
