Our client, a leader in the mining industry , is seeking a highly qualified Geotechnical Engineer to join their team in Stellenbosch, Western Cape . This critical role involves ensuring the stability and safety of mine structures, both underground and open-pit, through expert analysis and design. You will assess geological conditions, design support systems, and monitor ground behavior to mitigate risks associated with geotechnical hazards.

- Conduct detailed geotechnical investigations and analyses for mine design and stability assessments.
- Design and implement appropriate ground support systems for underground excavations and open-pit slopes.
- Develop and manage ground monitoring programs using instrumentation and observational methods.
- Analyze and interpret geological and geotechnical data to identify potential risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
- Provide technical guidance and support to mine operations and engineering teams on geotechnical matters.
- Prepare comprehensive geotechnical reports and recommendations for mine planning and construction.
- Master's degree or PhD in Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in geotechnical engineering, specifically within the mining sector .
- Proven expertise in rock mechanics, slope stability analysis, and underground excavation design.
- Proficiency with geotechnical software (e.g., Plaxis, Rocscience suite) is essential.
