About the Role
Our client, a dynamic force in the mining industry , is seeking a talented Mine Planning Engineer to focus on open-pit operations near Paarl, Western Cape . This role is critical for the strategic development and execution of mine plans, ensuring optimal resource utilization and economic viability. You will be responsible for designing mine layouts, scheduling production, and optimizing mining sequences to meet production targets safely and efficiently.

- Develop and maintain long-term, medium-term, and short-term mine plans for open-pit operations .
- Optimize mine designs, including pit outlines, haul roads, and production sequencing, considering economic factors.
- Generate schedules for drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling activities.
- Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new mining areas or project expansions.
- Collaborate closely with geological, survey, and operational teams to ensure plan alignment and feasibility.
- Monitor actual production against planned targets and implement adjustments as needed.
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in open-pit mine planning and design.
- Proficiency in mine planning software such as Vulcan, Deswik, or similar packages.
- Solid understanding of mine economics, resource modeling, and geostatistical principles.
- Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and communication skills.
