Senior Ventilation Engineer

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Ventilation Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and management of underground mine ventilation systems in the Stellenbosch region. This critical role ensures a safe and healthy working environment by controlling air quality, temperature, and dust levels. You will be responsible for optimizing ventilation networks, conducting airflow modeling, and ensuring compliance with stringent safety standards.

• Design and optimize underground mine ventilation systems to ensure adequate airflow and maintain air quality standards.
• Conduct airflow modeling and simulations using specialized software to predict and manage ventilation performance.
• Monitor and assess environmental conditions, including temperature, humidity, dust, and gas concentrations.
• Develop and implement dust suppression and control strategies.
• Ensure all ventilation systems and practices comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.

• Degree in Mining Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field with a specialization in ventilation.
• A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably in underground mining.
• Proficiency with Mine Vent, VENTSIM, or similar ventilation modeling software.
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer as applied to mine environments.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex ventilation challenges.
