Our client is seeking a skilled Geotechnical Engineer to provide essential expertise for their energy infrastructure projects, operating from Paarl . This role is crucial for assessing ground conditions, designing foundations, and mitigating geological risks associated with the construction of power plants, transmission lines, and renewable energy facilities. You will conduct site investigations, analyze soil and rock mechanics, and develop geotechnical designs that ensure the stability and longevity of critical energy infrastructure.
The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of soil mechanics and foundation engineering within the context of large-scale construction projects, and is committed to ensuring site safety and structural integrity.
- Plan and supervise geotechnical site investigations, including drilling, sampling, and in-situ testing.
- Analyze soil and rock properties to determine bearing capacity, settlement potential, and slope stability.
- Design foundations for various energy infrastructure elements, such as turbines, substations, and towers.
- Assess and mitigate risks related to seismic activity, landslides, and other geological hazards.
- Prepare detailed geotechnical reports, recommendations, and design drawings.
- Collaborate with civil engineers, structural engineers, and project managers to integrate geotechnical solutions into overall project designs.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with exposure to energy infrastructure projects .
- Proficiency in geotechnical software for analysis and design (e.g., PLAXIS, Geo Studio).
- Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, rock mechanics, foundation engineering, and site investigation techniques.
- Familiarity with South African geological conditions and relevant building codes.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills for technical documentation and stakeholder interaction.
