Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Drilling Fluids Engineer to enhance their operations in the Stellenbosch region. This role is crucial for the successful and safe execution of drilling operations by managing the design, performance, and cost-effectiveness of drilling fluid systems. You will provide expert technical support, troubleshoot complex fluid-related challenges, and ensure that fluid programs meet the specific geological and operational requirements.

• Design and manage drilling fluid programs tailored to specific well objectives and geological formations.
• Provide on-site and remote technical support to drilling operations, ensuring fluid systems perform optimally.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex drilling fluid issues, such as lost circulation, wellbore instability, and formation damage.
• Monitor drilling fluid performance, analyze data, and recommend adjustments to optimize drilling efficiency and safety.
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations regarding drilling fluid disposal and management.
• Evaluate new drilling fluid technologies and additives to improve performance and reduce costs.

• Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in drilling fluids engineering, with a strong understanding of fluid chemistry and rheology.
• Proven ability to manage and optimize drilling fluid systems in various drilling environments.
• Experience with solids control equipment and techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and mentor junior engineers.
