Electrical Design Engineer - Commercial Buildings

Our client is seeking a talented Electrical Design Engineer specializing in commercial buildings to join their established firm in Stellenbosch . You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and overseeing the electrical systems for a variety of commercial developments, from office spaces to retail complexes. This role requires a strong understanding of building codes, energy efficiency standards, and modern electrical technologies.

You will collaborate closely with architects, mechanical engineers, and project managers to deliver safe, functional, and compliant electrical solutions. This is a key on-site role integral to the success of projects within the Western Cape .

• Design and develop electrical systems for commercial buildings, including power distribution, lighting, emergency power, and fire alarm systems.
• Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and calculations using industry-standard software.
• Ensure designs comply with the National Building Regulations and other relevant codes and standards.
• Conduct site inspections during the construction phase to ensure adherence to design specifications.
• Coordinate electrical designs with architectural and other engineering disciplines.
• Specify electrical equipment and materials, and prepare Bills of Quantities.
• Provide technical support to construction teams and address design-related queries.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design for commercial building projects .
• Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD for electrical design and drafting.
• Solid understanding of lighting design principles, power quality, and energy management systems.
• Knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant building codes.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
