Chemical Engineer - Process Development

Our client, a leader in specialized chemical manufacturing, is seeking a dynamic Chemical Engineer to focus on process development in their Stellenbosch facility. This role is critical for taking laboratory-scale innovations and translating them into robust, scalable industrial processes. You will be involved in pilot plant operations, process optimization, and the detailed engineering required for new production lines. The ideal candidate is a problem-solver with a strong theoretical foundation and practical experience in scaling up chemical reactions and separations.

You will work within a dedicated R&D and engineering team, contributing directly to the company's pipeline of new products and improved manufacturing techniques.

• Design and execute pilot plant trials to test and validate new chemical processes.
• Develop detailed process designs, including equipment specifications and P&IDs.
• Optimize operating conditions to maximize yield, purity, and efficiency while minimizing costs and waste.
• Conduct techno-economic assessments for new process implementations.
• Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to ensure successful technology transfer and plant startup.
• Perform process hazard analyses (PHAs) for new and modified processes.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering .
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in chemical process development or scale-up.
• Proven ability in process modeling and simulation .
• Experience with pilot plant operations and data analysis.
• Strong understanding of chemical reaction engineering and separation processes.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
