Our client is seeking a proactive Electrical Engineer with expertise in industrial automation to join their manufacturing facility in Stellenbosch. This role is integral to optimizing production processes through the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical control systems and automated machinery. You will work with PLCs, HMIs, robotics, and SCADA systems to enhance operational efficiency, safety, and product quality. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving skills and a hands‑on approach to engineering challenges within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities- Design, develop, and implement electrical control systems for industrial automation projects using PLCs, HMIs, and VFDs.
- Program and troubleshoot a variety of PLC platforms (e.g., Siemens, Allen‑Bradley) and HMI software.
- Specify and integrate industrial robots, vision systems, and other automated equipment.
- Conduct electrical safety assessments and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Manage electrical aspects of capital projects, including equipment selection, installation, and commissioning.
- Provide ongoing technical support and training to maintenance and operations staff on automated systems.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in industrial automation and control systems engineering.
- Proven experience with PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA systems.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and P&IDs.
- Experience with robotics integration and industrial networking protocols is highly desirable.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex electrical and automation issues.
