Senior Mechanical Designer

Our client seeks a seasoned Senior Mechanical Designer to join their team in Stellenbosch . This role is crucial for translating engineering concepts into tangible, manufacturable designs. You will leverage your deep knowledge of CAD tools and manufacturing processes to create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings for complex mechanical systems. Working closely with mechanical engineers and manufacturing specialists, you will ensure designs are robust, cost-effective, and meet all project requirements.

• Create detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings for mechanical components and assemblies using Solid Works .
• Develop Bills of Materials (BOMs) and ensure their accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers to review and refine designs based on simulation results and DFM feedback.
• Perform tolerance stack-up analyses to ensure part interchangeability and product functionality.
• Assist in the creation and maintenance of design documentation and release processes.
• Support prototype builds and production by troubleshooting design-related issues.

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience.
• 5-8 years of professional experience as a Mechanical Designer or Drafter.
• Expert proficiency in Solid Works or a comparable 3D CAD system.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawings.
• Good communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team.
