Bioprocess Engineer

Our client is seeking a skilled Bioprocess Engineer to join their innovative research team in Paarl . This hybrid role focuses on the development, optimization, and scale-up of biological manufacturing processes. You will work with cutting-edge technologies to ensure efficient and reliable production of biopharmaceuticals or other biological products. This position requires a strong understanding of fermentation, cell culture, downstream processing, and process validation, contributing directly to the company's R&D pipeline and manufacturing capabilities in a dynamic lab environment.

• Design, develop, and optimize bioprocesses for the large-scale production of biological products.
• Perform experiments to evaluate and improve fermentation or cell culture conditions.
• Oversee downstream processing steps, including separation, purification, and formulation.
• Conduct process validation studies and ensure compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GMP).
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain product quality and yield.
• Collaborate with research scientists and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless technology transfer.

• M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in bioprocess development or scale-up.
• Hands-on experience with fermentation or cell culture systems.
• Knowledge of downstream processing techniques and analytical methods for biological products.
• Familiarity with GMP regulations and validation principles in the biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage complex projects.
