Senior Industrial Engineer - Facility Layout & Design

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Industrial Engineer to lead facility layout and design projects in Stellenbosch, Western Cape
. This role is crucial for optimizing the physical space and material flow within our manufacturing and distribution facilities to maximize efficiency, safety, and productivity. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in facility planning, simulation modeling, ergonomic design, and lean principles. You will work closely with project management, operations, and safety teams to develop innovative and effective facility designs. This is a key leadership position for an engineer passionate about creating optimal operational environments.

• Lead the design and re-design of manufacturing and warehouse facility layouts to optimize material flow, space utilization, and operational efficiency.
• Develop comprehensive facility layout concepts using CAD software and simulation tools.
• Conduct ergonomic assessments and implement designs to improve worker safety and comfort.
• Apply lean manufacturing principles to eliminate waste and improve workflow within facility designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, procurement, and safety, to define facility requirements.
• Develop detailed project plans, budgets, and timelines for facility design and implementation projects.
• Oversee the implementation of new layouts, ensuring minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
• Analyze existing facility performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Stay current with best practices in facility design, ergonomics, and lean manufacturing.

• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in industrial engineering with a specialization in facility layout and design.
• Proven expertise in using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD) and simulation tools (e.g., Flex Sim, Arena).
• Strong understanding of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and ergonomic principles.
• Demonstrated experience in leading complex facility design projects from concept to completion.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong project management and leadership abilities.
• Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
• Experience working with various types of manufacturing and warehousing operations.
