Civil Project Manager

Our client, a leading developer and construction firm in Stellenbosch, Western Cape
, is seeking a seasoned Civil Project Manager to lead complex development projects from conception through to completion. This hybrid role requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of civil engineering principles, project management methodologies, and site operations. You will be responsible for overseeing budgets, schedules, resource allocation, and stakeholder communication to ensure successful project delivery. • Manage all phases of civil engineering projects, including planning, design, procurement, construction, and close-out.
• Develop and manage project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial accountability.
• Create and maintain detailed project schedules, monitoring progress and identifying potential delays.
• Oversee and coordinate the work of engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and other project team members.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant building codes, regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements.
• Liaise effectively with clients, government authorities, community stakeholders, and internal management.
• Procure necessary materials, equipment, and services, negotiating contracts and managing vendor relationships.
• Conduct regular site inspections and progress meetings to monitor quality and resolve issues.
• Prepare comprehensive project reports, including status updates, risk assessments, and financial summaries.
• Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies.

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree or PMP certification is a strong asset.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in a project management capacity.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale civil infrastructure or development projects.
• In-depth knowledge of construction methodologies, contract management, and risk assessment.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively under pressure.
• Strong understanding of South African building regulations and environmental laws.
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed for this hybrid role.
• Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (Pr Eng) with ECSA.
