Structural CAD Technician - Architectural Reinforcement Design

Our client, a well-respected engineering design firm, is looking for a detail-oriented Structural CAD Technician to join their team in Paarl, Western Cape
. This role is crucial in translating structural designs into accurate, constructible technical drawings and models. You will work closely with Structural Engineers to produce detailed plans for reinforced concrete, steel, and masonry structures across various project types, including residential, commercial, and industrial buildings. The ideal candidate possesses excellent CAD skills, a strong understanding of structural principles, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately under supervision.

• Prepare detailed structural drawings, including reinforcement details, connection designs, and structural layouts using CAD software.
• Assist Structural Engineers in the development of design documentation and calculations.
• Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, national standards (SANS), and company drafting standards.
• Create 3D models of structural elements as required by project needs.
• Coordinate drawings with architectural and other engineering disciplines' plans.
• Perform basic structural calculations under engineer supervision.
• Maintain organized drawing files and revision control.
• Conduct site visits with engineers to verify existing conditions or construction progress where necessary.
• Support the engineering team with ad-hoc drafting and documentation tasks.

• National Diploma or relevant CAD certification in Civil/Structural Engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a CAD Technician in a structural engineering context.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential; experience with Revit Structure is a significant advantage.
• Understanding of structural engineering principles and terminology.
• Ability to read and interpret structural drawings and specifications.
• Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organizational skills and ability to manage workload.
• Basic knowledge of South African building codes and reinforcement detailing practices.
• Effective communication skills for coordination within the team.
