Senior Structural Draughtsperson

Our client, a distinguished engineering consultancy, is seeking a highly proficient Senior Structural Draughtsperson to contribute to their ongoing projects in the scenic Paarl, Western Cape region. This role is pivotal in translating complex structural designs into accurate and detailed technical drawings and models. You will work closely with structural engineers, providing crucial support in the design and documentation phases of diverse construction projects.

• Produce detailed structural drawings, plans, sections, and elevations using CAD software based on engineer’s designs and calculations.
• Develop and maintain 3D models for structural components as required.
• Ensure all drawings are produced in accordance with relevant building codes, standards, and company procedures.
• Coordinate with structural engineers to clarify design intent and resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare drawing lists, schedules, and other necessary documentation for project submissions.
• Review and incorporate revisions and mark-ups from engineers and project managers.
• Check and verify the accuracy of drawings produced by junior draughtspersons or external parties.
• Maintain organized drawing archives and ensure efficient document control.
• Collaborate with other disciplines (architectural, mechanical, electrical) to ensure coordination of structural elements.
• Assist in site visits for information gathering or verification purposes when necessary.

• National Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Structural Draughtsperson.
• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit Structure is essential.
• Familiarity with structural analysis software outputs and understanding of structural design principles.
• Knowledge of South African National Standards (SANS) and relevant building codes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical drawing production.
• Good understanding of construction materials and methods.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with engineers and other team members.
• Experience working within the Paarl, Western Cape vicinity is beneficial.
