Senior Character Artist

Our client is seeking a talented and experienced Senior Character Artist to join their creative team in Stellenbosch , Western Cape. You will be responsible for creating high-fidelity, compelling character models that form the backbone of their game's visual identity. This role demands exceptional artistic skill, a keen eye for anatomy, form, and detail, as well as technical proficiency in modern art pipelines.

You will work closely with the art director and other artists to ensure characters are not only visually stunning but also optimized for performance and seamlessly integrated into the game engine.

• Model, sculpt, and texture high-polygon and low-polygon character assets for games.
• Create realistic and stylized P  materials and textures for characters.
• Collaborate with riggers to ensure characters are well-prepared for animation.
• Optimize character models and textures for real-time performance across target platforms.
• Maintain consistency in art style and quality throughout character production.
• Provide feedback and mentorship to junior character artists.

• 5+ years of professional experience as a Character Artist in the game industry, with a strong portfolio showcasing high-quality character work.
• Expertise in 3D modeling and sculpting software such as Maya, ZBrush, and Blender.
• Proficiency with texturing software like Substance Painter and Photoshop.
• Understanding of P  workflows and modern game engine requirements (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine).
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, form, silhouette, and costume design.
