About the Role

Our client, a prominent player in the energy market, is looking for a sharp and analytical Energy Trader to join their team in Paarl . This dynamic role involves managing the buying and selling of energy commodities, including electricity, gas, and related derivatives, to optimize profit and manage risk. You will analyze market trends, identify trading opportunities, and execute trades in real-time across various platforms.

The ideal candidate possesses a strong quantitative background, an understanding of energy markets, and the ability to make quick, informed decisions under pressure.

• Execute trading strategies for electricity, natural gas, and other energy commodities.
• Monitor market conditions, news, and data to identify profitable trading opportunities.
• Analyze supply and demand fundamentals, weather patterns, and regulatory changes impacting energy prices.
• Manage trading positions, risk exposure, and ensure compliance with trading policies.
• Develop and maintain relationships with market participants, brokers, and counter parties.
• Report on trading performance, market insights, and risk positions to management.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy trading, commodity trading, or financial markets.
• Demonstrated understanding of energy markets, trading mechanisms, and derivatives.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to perform under pressure and make critical decisions rapidly.
