Our client is seeking a meticulous and analytical Loan Underwriter to join their team in Paarl . This crucial role involves evaluating loan applications to assess risk and determine eligibility for clients within the banking and finance sector . You will be responsible for reviewing financial documentation, verifying information, and making sound decisions to approve or deny loan requests based on established credit policies and risk parameters.
The ideal candidate possesses strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of credit principles.
- Analyze loan applications, including credit reports, financial statements, and collateral evaluations.
- Assess borrower risk and determine loan eligibility in accordance with company credit policies and regulatory requirements.
- Verify the accuracy and completeness of applicant information and supporting documentation.
- Make sound decisions on loan approvals, rejections, or modifications, clearly documenting the rationale.
- Communicate effectively with loan officers, borrowers, and other stakeholders regarding application status and requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of lending regulations, industry best practices, and market conditions.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in loan underwriting, credit analysis, or a related financial role.
- Strong understanding of credit risk assessment, financial statement analysis, and lending principles.
- Proficiency in loan origination systems and related financial software.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage a high volume of applications efficiently while adhering to strict deadlines.
