Information Security Analyst; SOC)

About the Role

Our client is seeking a vigilant and technically adept Information Security Analyst to join their Security Operations Center (SOC) team in Stellenbosch . This role is critical for monitoring, detecting, and responding to cyber threats in real-time, ensuring the protection of the organization's digital assets. You will analyze security alerts, investigate potential incidents, and contribute to the continuous improvement of security monitoring capabilities.

• Monitor security alerts generated by SIEM, IDS/IPS, and other security tools, performing initial analysis and triage.
• Investigate security incidents, gathering evidence, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate response actions.
• Analyze threat intelligence to identify potential risks and vulnerabilities affecting the organization.
• Develop and refine detection rules and alerting mechanisms to improve threat identification.
• Collaborate with incident response teams to contain and eradicate threats effectively.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of SOC processes, procedures, and tools.

• Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2-4 years of experience in a Security Operations Center (SOC) or similar security monitoring role.
• Proficiency in analyzing security logs, network traffic, and threat intelligence data.
• Hands-on experience with SIEM platforms (e.g., Splunk, QRadar), IDS/IPS, and endpoint security solutions.
• Understanding of common attack vectors, malware types, and cybersecurity frameworks.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
