Database Administrator

Our client is seeking a meticulous and experienced Database Administrator to manage and maintain their critical database systems in Stellenbosch . This role is essential for ensuring the performance, integrity, and security of all databases. You will be responsible for installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of database servers. • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Monitor database performance, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
• Perform regular database backups and ensure effective disaster recovery plans are in place.
• Manage database security, including user access control, roles, and permissions.
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
• Develop and maintain documentation for database standards, procedures, and configurations.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Database Administrator.
• Proficiency in administering and tuning at least one major RDBMS (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Strong understanding of database backup, recovery, and high availability solutions.
• Experience with performance monitoring and tuning tools.
• Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance requirements.
