Principal Machine Learning Engineer - Bioinformatics

• Lead the design, development, implementation, and deployment of advanced machine learning models for bioinformatics applications, including genomics, proteomics, and drug discovery.
• Architect robust and scalable data pipelines for processing and analyzing large-scale biological datasets.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand biological questions and translate them into machine learning problems.
• Develop novel algorithms and techniques to address specific challenges in biological data analysis.
• Evaluate and benchmark different ML models and approaches, ensuring optimal performance and accuracy.
• Mentor junior engineers and scientists, fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
• Stay at the forefront of machine learning and bioinformatics research, identifying and applying new technologies.
• Communicate complex technical concepts and results effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Contribute to the strategic direction of the company's data science and machine learning efforts.

• PhD or Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Bioinformatics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in machine learning engineering, with a strong emphasis on bioinformatics or computational biology.
• Proven track record of leading complex ML projects from conception to deployment.
• Expertise in deep learning frameworks (e.g., Tensor Flow, PyTorch) and classical machine learning algorithms.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and associated libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, pandas, Num Py).
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and big data technologies (e.g., Spark).
• Strong understanding of biological data types and analysis workflows (genomics, transcriptomics, etc.).
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team.
• Experience in scientific software development and MLOps is highly desirable.
