Our client is looking for a proactive and experienced Mine Maintenance Manager to lead their maintenance department in the Stellenbosch, Western Cape region. This senior role is responsible for ensuring the reliability and optimal performance of all mining equipment and infrastructure, including mobile fleets, fixed plant machinery, and electrical systems. You will develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies, manage maintenance teams, and control maintenance budgets to minimize downtime and maximize operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of heavy mining equipment, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Develop and execute strategic maintenance plans, including preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
- Manage and lead a team of maintenance supervisors, technicians, and artisans across various disciplines.
- Oversee the maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations and efficient resource allocation.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations related to maintenance activities.
- Implement systems for tracking maintenance performance, analyzing equipment reliability, and identifying areas for improvement.
- National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in maintenance management within the mining or heavy industry sector.
- Proven experience managing maintenance budgets and personnel.
- Strong knowledge of mobile mining equipment (e.g., haul trucks, excavators) and fixed plant processing equipment.
- Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
