Machine Shop Supervisor

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Machine Shop Supervisor to lead their team of machinists in Paarl. You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the machine shop, ensuring that production targets are met efficiently and safely, while maintaining the highest standards of quality. This role requires strong leadership abilities, a deep understanding of machining processes, and the capacity to manage resources, schedules, and personnel effectively.

The ideal candidate will be adept at optimizing workflow and driving continuous improvement within the machine shop environment.

• Supervise and manage the daily activities of the machine shop personnel, including machinists and operators.
• Ensure that all production schedules are met and that output targets are achieved efficiently.
• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and calibration of CNC machines, lathes, milling machines, and other equipment.
• Implement and enforce stringent quality control measures to ensure precision and adherence to specifications.
• Train and mentor machine shop staff, promoting skill development and safety awareness.
• Manage inventory of tooling, raw materials, and supplies, coordinating with procurement as needed.

• Significant experience as a Machinist or in a supervisory role within a machine shop environment.
• In-depth knowledge of CNC machining, manual machining techniques, and various machine tools.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and technical drawings.
• Strong understanding of quality control principles and manufacturing best practices.
• Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.
