About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented Formulation Scientist to join their Research and Development team in Stellenbosch . You will be instrumental in the design, development, and optimization of innovative pharmaceutical dosage forms, focusing on improving drug delivery, bioavailability, and patient compliance. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, data analysis, and contributing to the full lifecycle of product development from concept to clinical trials.
You will collaborate closely with analytical chemists, process engineers, and regulatory affairs specialists to bring new and improved pharmaceutical products to market.
- Design and develop novel drug formulations for various routes of administration (e.g., oral, injectable, topical).
- Conduct pre-formulation studies to characterize drug substances and excipients.
- Prepare and evaluate prototype formulations, including stability testing and performance assessments.
- Develop and validate analytical methods for formulation characterization and quality control.
- Troubleshoot formulation challenges and propose scientifically sound solutions.
- Prepare technical reports, development summaries, and documentation for regulatory filings.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and scientific advancements in pharmaceutical formulation.
- Master's or Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Pharmaceutics, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in pharmaceutical formulation development.
- Proven expertise in various dosage form development (e.g., solid dosage, liquids, semi-solids, injectables).
- Experience with formulation characterization techniques and analytical method development.
- Strong understanding of GMP principles and regulatory requirements for drug product development.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and scientific curiosity.
