About the Role
Our client is seeking an accomplished Senior Research Fellow to join their esteemed Agronomy research team in Stellenbosch . This position is dedicated to advancing sustainable agricultural practices through innovative research in crop science, soil health, and water management. You will lead research projects, analyze field trial data, and develop innovative solutions to enhance crop yields and resilience. The role requires a deep understanding of plant physiology, genetics, and agricultural systems, coupled with a passion for applying scientific knowledge to real-world farming challenges.

- Design, implement, and manage field trials to evaluate new crop varieties, fertilizers, and farming techniques.
- Conduct detailed studies on plant physiology, genetics, and soil-crop interactions to optimize agricultural productivity.
- Analyze complex datasets from field experiments and laboratory analyses using statistical software.
- Develop and recommend best practices for sustainable agriculture, focusing on water use efficiency and soil conservation.
- Collaborate with farmers, agronomists, and other stakeholders to disseminate research findings and promote adoption of new technologies.
- Prepare scientific reports, grant proposals, and publications for peer-reviewed journals.
- Ph.D. in Agronomy, Plant Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural discipline.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience in crop science, with a strong focus on field experimentation.
- Proven expertise in plant physiology, genetics, soil science, and statistical analysis of agricultural data.
- Experience with precision agriculture technologies and data management is desirable.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with diverse audiences.
