About the Role
Our client is seeking a talented and motivated Research Scientist specializing in Organic Synthesis to join their innovative R&D team in Stellenbosch . This role will focus on designing and executing complex synthetic routes for novel chemical compounds, contributing to the development of new products and technologies. You will work in a well-equipped laboratory, collaborating with cross-functional teams to advance research projects from conception through to proof-of-concept.

- Design and synthesize novel organic molecules using a variety of chemical reactions and methodologies.
- Optimize reaction conditions to improve yield, purity, and efficiency of synthetic routes.
- Characterize synthesized compounds using modern analytical techniques (NMR, MS, IR, etc.).
- Troubleshoot synthetic challenges and develop creative solutions to achieve research objectives.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks and document experimental procedures and results accurately.
- Collaborate with colleagues on cross-functional research projects and contribute to scientific discussions.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in organic synthesis and related fields in Stellenbosch .
- Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern organic synthesis techniques and reaction mechanisms.
- Hands-on experience with purification methods (e.g., chromatography) and compound characterization.
- Proficiency in literature searching and utilizing chemical databases.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to research challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information clearly.
