About the Role
Our client is looking for a meticulous and enthusiastic Research Assistant to support their work in Molecular Diagnostics in Paarl . This role involves assisting senior scientists in developing and validating innovative diagnostic tests for various health conditions. You will perform laboratory procedures, maintain detailed records, and contribute to the overall success of research projects. This is an excellent entry-level or early-career opportunity for someone passionate about applied molecular biology and its role in healthcare, offering hands-on experience in a dynamic research setting and contributing to advancements in medical diagnostics, working closely with a dedicated team.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the execution of laboratory experiments for the development and validation of molecular diagnostic assays.
- Perform routine molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, and gel electrophoresis.
- Prepare reagents and maintain laboratory equipment and supplies.
- Accurately record experimental data and maintain detailed laboratory notebooks.
- Contribute to data analysis and report generation under the supervision of senior researchers.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety protocols and quality control standards in Paarl.
- Bachelor's degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science field.
- Previous laboratory experience, preferably in a research or diagnostic setting.
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and an understanding of molecular biology principles.
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and handling of biological samples.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to follow protocols precisely.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a research team.
