About the Role
Our client is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to join their pioneering team in Stellenbosch , focusing on advancements in Plant Biotechnology . This role is integral to exploring novel approaches in crop improvement, genetic modification, and sustainable agriculture. You will conduct cutting-edge research, contribute to experimental design, and analyze data to drive innovation in plant science. Key Responsibilities- Conduct experimental research in plant biotechnology , including plant tissue culture, genetic transformation, and molecular marker analysis.
- Design and execute experiments to investigate gene function, trait development, and response to environmental factors in plants.
- Analyze genomic, transcriptomic, and phenotypic data using bioinformatics tools and statistical software.
- Contribute to the development of new research methodologies and protocols for crop improvement.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of scientists, agronomists, and technicians.
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present at scientific meetings in Stellenbosch .
- Ph.D. in Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience in plant tissue culture and genetic transformation techniques.
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (e.g., PCR, qPCR, DNA sequencing, genotyping).
- Experience with bioinformatics tools and analysis of plant genetic data.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex biological problems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a collaborative mindset.
