Our client is seeking a distinguished Senior Physicist to join their leading research group focused on Experimental Particle Physicsin Stellenbosch. This role is central to conducting advanced experiments, analyzing complex datasets, and contributing to fundamental discoveries in particle physics. You will collaborate with an international team of scientists, manage experimental apparatus, and interpret results to advance our understanding of the universe's fundamental constituents and forces.
This is a challenging opportunity for a passionate physicist to work at the forefront of scientific exploration in a highly collaborative research environment, within a renowned academic and research hub.
- Design, develop, and implement detector systems and experimental setups for particle physics research.
- Acquire and analyze large volumes of experimental data, employing sophisticated statistical and computational techniques.
- Develop and maintain simulation tools to model detector responses and particle interactions.
- Interpret experimental results in the context of theoretical models and contribute to new theoretical developments.
- Collaborate with international research collaborations, contributing to joint analysis efforts and publications.
- Present research findings at major international conferences and author peer-reviewed scientific papers.
- Ph.D. in Physics, with a specialization in Particle Physics or a related experimental field.
- A minimum of 7 years of research experience in experimental particle physics post-Ph.D.
- Demonstrated expertise in detector technologies, data acquisition, and analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, and experience with data analysis frameworks (e.g., ROOT).
- Experience with Monte Carlo simulations and statistical analysis methods.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within large international teams.
