HVAC TECHNICIAN
The Boschendal HVAC technician installs, maintains, and repairs heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across Boschendal, aligned with standards, regulations and safety protocols, to ensure HVAC systems work correctly, provide comfort, and maintain good air quality. This involves troubleshooting problems, performing routine maintenance, replacing parts, and interacting with clients to explain issues and recommend solutions.
The role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, a customer‑service mindset and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Key duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Install new HVAC systems, including ductwork and electrical wiring, in residential, commercial, or industrial settings across Boschendal, in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions, blueprints and specifications.
- Set up and maintain an inventory of HVAC systems, including location, manufacturer, model, date of manufacture, serial number, last service date and any other relevant information.
- Maintain accurate records and logs of maintenance, repairs, service calls, parts used, time spent.
- Plan, perform and record regular preventative maintenance to ensure systems run efficiently, which includes cleaning coils and filters, lubricating parts, and checking for leaks, to ensure optimal performance and to extend equipment lifecycle.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues, then repair or replace worn or defective parts to restore functionality.
- Perform emergency repairs and respond to service calls as required (including on‑call, weekends, after‑hours).
- Order and manage required parts, tools and supplies.
- Inspect and test HVAC systems and components using specialized tools like multimeters to ensure they are operating correctly.
- Provide excellent customer service, communicate with clients/users to explain issues, advise on system condition, maintenance needs or potential upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, safety regulations and refrigerant legislation (where relevant) and maintain a safe working environment.
• Minimum:
High school diploma (or equivalent).
• Trade certificate or diploma in HVAC/Mechanical/Electrical or related field preferred.
• Relevant certification/licensing for HVAC work and refrigerants (as per local/regional requirements).
• Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record (if travel between sites required).

Proven experience:
2+ years installing/maintaining HVAC systems. Experience may vary depending on scope (residential, commercial, industrial).
• Proficiency reading blueprints, schematics, technical manuals.
Working conditions & physical requirements- May be required to work outside normal hours, be on‑call, travel between sites.
- Will need to handle parts and tools, lift moderate weights (e.g., up to ~50 kg or as required by local standards).
- Work may involve climbing ladders, crawling in crawl spaces, working in attics/rooftops.
- Exposure to indoor/outdoor environments, weather, varying temperatures and possible hazards (e.g., refrigerants, electrical systems).
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required, and full compliance with health & safety protocols.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical schematics to plan installations and service calls.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical failures.
- Knowledge of various HVAC equipment, including ductwork, air‑handlers, compressors, chillers, boilers, controls, furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and boilers.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving abilities.
