This competition is being used to establish an eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies across paramedicine programs offered at College of the North Atlantic's Bay St. George Campus. Opportunities may include temporary full-time, part-time, or casual call-in appointments. Candidates who meet the position requirements may be placed on an eligibility list for a specified period in accordance with the Public Service Commission's Eligibility Lists Policy.

Salary will be determined in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement based on the candidate's education and experience. Relocation assistance may be available to the successful candidate, subject to eligibility criteria and College policy.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary Care Paramedics - Be the First on Scene

Step into a role where every call matters. As a PCP, you provide critical pre-hospital care, make split-second decisions, and support professional practice. As a Primary Care Paramededic Instructor, you will help shape clinicians who will serve communities for years to come, while advancing excellence, leadership, and innovation within the profession. You will be part of a progressive Primary Care Paramedicine (PCP) program, aligned with national standards and grounded in student-centered, practice-ready education.

We are looking for experienced paramedics ready to share their expertise, advance emergency care, and help train the next generation.

The opportunity includes delivering high-quality education across theory, lab, simulation, and clinical settings. You will teach and support courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, EMS Basics, Pathophysiology, Traumatology, and other clinical topics, bringing real-world expertise into the learning environment. You may be required to instruct courses using a variety of delivery methods, including on-site and online formats, across paramedicine programs offered by the College, based on qualifications (including Advanced Care Paramedicine and/or Emergency Medical Responder to Primary Care Paramedicine).

What You’ll Do

  • Facilitate learning for students in theory, lab, and clinical settings as part of the Primary Care Paramedicine program.
  • Incorporate your teaching style into existing lesson plans while meeting course learning objectives.
  • Collaborate with other faculty to ensure a coordinated and consistent delivery of the planned curriculum.
  • Prepare and implement instructional strategies, techniques, and modules using an approved curriculum to achieve learning outcomes.
  • Utilize technology to advance teaching and learning; establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods; administer assessments.
  • Meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress.
  • Set a professional example and communicate effectively with students, providing an emotionally safe learning environment.
  • Maintain classroom discipline following college policies; identify and resolve areas for improvement in learning.
  • Provide academic advising to students.
  • Participate in professional development, maintain currency, and strive for instructional excellence and professionalism in paramedicine.
  • Contribute to program review activities to ensure high standards.
  • Instruct courses using multiple delivery methods, including on-site and online formats, across the paramedicine programs based on qualifications.
  • Additional duties consistent with maintaining quality, student-centered instruction.
Screening Criteria
  • Applicants must be an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP).
  • Primary care paramedics (PCP) may be considered if training at the ACP level is in progress.
