Position: eLearning Specialist (Internal)

Position

eLearning Specialist (Internal)

Salary: $66,648 to $88,188 per year

Location: Homebased

Start date: July 9, 2026 (ongoing)

Qualifications
  • A clean vulnerable sector criminal record check prior to commencement
  • A valid Class 5 driver’s license
Nature and Scope of Work

Reporting to the Dean, Health, Human Services & University Studies, this position is responsible for the support of faculty and staff utilizing various educational technologies. This support includes designing and facilitating faculty and staff development training sessions and workshops, developing instructional materials to support faculty with integrating technology into courses, and creating instructional materials to support faculty, staff and students using technology.

Other responsibilities include ongoing research regarding quality in distance education and collaborative learning environments and evaluating various educational technologies to facilitate teaching and learning.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Train faculty to use synchronous and asynchronous software that is required for use in online teaching and learning
  • Support faculty in implementing best practices in the use of online teaching and learning pedagogy
  • Develop training materials
  • Work with the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Research team to implement new initiatives
  • Design and develop course materials, specifically for online teaching
  • Resolve Learning Management System issues for students and instructors
  • Monitor the Learning Management System help system and respond to requests
  • Support instructors in the use of Learning Management system tools on a request basis
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Learning Management System, and other online course delivery systems, as required
  • Coordinate other projects as required
Skills/Knowledge
  • Proficient in online educational technologies, such as Brightspace and Bongo
  • Good interpersonal communication skills
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

This position is covered under the Collective Agreement between Northern Lakes College and the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees.
