We're looking for experienced paramedics ready to share their expertise, advance emergency care, and help train the next generation.
The OpportunityAs a PCP Instructor, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality education across theory, lab, simulation, and clinical settings. You will teach and support courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, EMS Basics, Pathophysiology, Traumatology, and other important clinical topics-bringing your real-world expertise directly into the learning environment.
What You'll Do- Facilitate learning to students in theory, lab, and clinical as part of the Primary Care Paramedicine program.
- Incorporate their own teaching style to existing lesson plans while meeting the learning objectives of the course material.
- Work with other faculty members to ensure a coordinated and consistent teaching approach to ensure the planned curriculum for each course is delivered.
- Prepare and implement various instructional strategies, techniques, and learning modules using an approved curriculum to achieve specified learning outcomes.
- Utilize and advocate for the use of technology to advance teaching and learning; establish student performance objectives and evaluation methods; administer various assessments.
- Meet with students regularly to gauge and evaluate progress.
- Set a professional example and communicate effectively at a level appropriate to the ability of students and provide an emotionally safe learning environment that is conducive to learning.
- Maintain appropriate classroom discipline following college policies and procedures; identify and resolve problem areas in learning.
- Provide academic advising to students.
- Participate in professional development activities, maintain currency, and strive for excellence in instructional practices and the paramedicine profession.
- Actively participate in and contribute to program review activities to ensure the program is of the highest standard.
- This position may also be required to instruct courses using a variety of delivery methods, including on-site and online formats, across the paramedicine programs offered by the College, based on individual qualifications, including Advanced Care Paramedicine and/or Emergency Medical Responder to Primary Care Paramedicine.
- Other related duties consistent with providing and maintaining quality student-centered instruction will be required.
- Graduation from an Advanced Care Paramedicine program (ACP); and
- A minimum of five (5) years of recent, relevant experience practicing as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP).
- Graduation from an ACP program with less than five (5) years of recent, relevant ACP experience, including a combination of experience practicing as both a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) and an ACP; or
- Graduation from a PCP program with a minimum of five (5) years of recent, relevant experience practicing as a PCP.
- Candidates appointed through these alternative qualifications may have their teaching assignments limited to courses that align with their education, experience, and authorized scope of practice.
