Site Description
Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital in Stephenville is a 44‑bed acute care centre with a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient services for the people of the Bay St. George area. The catchment area served by the hospital is between the Port au Port Peninsula east to Gallants and south to the Jeffreys‑St. Fintans area, serving approximately 24,000 people.

- Patrol hospital grounds: conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure safety and security.
- Monitor surveillance systems: operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
- Access control: monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Respond to emergencies: act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats; assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
- Provide customer service: greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff; provide directions and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- Conflict resolution: de‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
- Report writing: document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately; complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Collaborate with hospital staff: work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide coordinated security effort and ensure safety of all parties.
- Enforce hospital policies: ensure hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed; address violations in a manner that upholds safety standards.
- Transparent criminal record check & vulnerable sector check
- Valid first aid & CPR – Level C from a CSA‑approved vendor
- Tuberculosis (TB) screening: all healthcare workers must undergo assessment for tuberculosis.
- Vaccination documentation: proof of completion of full childhood/primary vaccination series required.
- Tdap vaccine: one dose of tetanus, diphtheria, and acellular pertussis required upon reaching 18 years of age.
- Booster requirement: booster dose of tetanus toxoid‑reduced diphtheria toxoid (Tdap) required every 10 years.
- Valid Class 5 driver license & willingness to take shifts at sites within reasonable driving distance.
- English fluency (oral and written) mandatory.
- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or related field preferred.
- Capability to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB). Applicants lacking these certifications may opt into Paladin’s UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding; training is not paid (pre‑requisite) but Paladin will cover all costs under a 6‑month commitment.
High school diploma
Certification RequirementsFirst Aid and CPR – Level C certification;
