The public vocational rehabilitation (VR) program administered through the Texas Workforce Commission helps people with disabilities to prepare for, obtain, retain, and advance in employment. 12.6% unemployment rate for people with disabilities in 2020, higher than the general population.

• Assist individuals with disabilities to prepare for, retain, obtain, and advance in competitive employment, including student transitions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community referral sources, businesses, employers and schools.
• Collect and analyze information for eligibility decisions.
• Help customer choose employment based on strengths and job market.
• Develop a services plan aligned with employment goals.
• Ensure timely, cost-effective service delivery.
• Implement processes for successful job placement.
• Apply purchasing practices and utilize available benefits to ensure effective use of public funds.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling or Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling.
• Or master’s in counseling or related field plus one year of related work experience.
• Or master’s in other major plus two years of related work experience.
• Or bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation plus one year related work experience.
• Or bachelor’s in counseling, education, social work, sociology, psychology, or public health plus two years related experience.
• Or bachelor’s in other major plus three years related experience.

Bachelor's Degree in a field reasonably related to vocational rehabilitation. No experience required.

Positions available from VRC Trainee to Sr VRC. Hiring level based on education, credentials, experience. CSPD educational requirements for those without a master’s degree. 1 year of paid/unpaid experience required to advance from VRC Trainee to VRC I.

• Up to 30% travel; employee responsible for transportation.
