Job Overview

As a Food Service Representative you will manage a well‑stocked department, provide superior customer service, and comply with food safety and sanitation standards. Eligible Partners may become company owners, increasing responsibilities and focus on quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide superior customer service and assist customers with product selection.
  • Take orders by telephone or in person, and answer questions regarding products.
  • Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh products on a daily basis.
  • Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality.
  • Assist in technical areas such as basic set‑up and clean‑up processes.
  • Use suggestive selling techniques to meet customer needs and build department sales.
  • Clean and sanitize display cases, and operate and maintain equipment properly.
  • Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards and store operating procedures.
Department‑Specific Responsibilities
  • Bakery:
    • Record production and shrink for planning.
    • Assist in baking, frying, and decorating.
    • Cull bakery products for poor quality or expiration.
  • Deli:
    • Takes care of service counter customers and uses ordering system applications.
    • Use Fresh Production Planner and perform inventory management processes (MSI, PAW).
    • Ensure catering orders are prepared in time for pickup.
    • Perform sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers.
  • Prepared Foods:
    • Serve or package products at customer’s request.
    • Educate customers on preparation/reheating instructions.
    • Prepackage condiments for prepared food items.
    • Assist kitchen staff with cutting, slicing, dicing, and food preparation.
Physical Requirements

Key tasks may involve reaching, lifting, standing, walking, and handling food packing. Maximum lifting ranges vary by department (Bakery up to 70 lbs, Deli up to 65 lbs). Partners must adhere to safe lifting guidelines and never lift beyond their safe limit.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Minimum age 18.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of Company Orientation and food safety and sanitation training upon hire.
