Test Engineer

Position Title: Test Engineer

Location: Sterling Heights, MI

In this role, you will collaborate closely with global Mechanical Engineering and Software Development teams to design, test, and refine advanced electro‑mechanical systems. You will play a key part in developing motor control systems, executing test programs, and engaging with customers to drive technical innovation and business growth worldwide. The Test Engineer will support all phases of design, development, validation, and production launch for automotive systems and components.

This position requires a hands‑on approach to testing, data analysis, and continuous improvement within a collaborative team environment. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong problem‑solving ability, initiative, and a drive to achieve technical excellence.

• Conduct and oversee all phases of testing—design validation (DV), production validation (PV), prototype, warranty, and production testing—according to defined test plans and standards.
• Plan, coordinate, and manage testing projects to ensure quality results and customer satisfaction.
• Develop, document, and refine test methods, procedures, and standard work instructions for test setup and execution.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional engineering teams to launch and enhance products in line with company objectives.
• Utilize and develop software and hardware tools for testing electro‑mechanical systems and equipment.
• Provide test recommendations and documentation from product design through production launch.
• Ensure timely, accurate, and effective testing aligned with program requirements.
• Analyze, interpret, and report test results to engineering and management in detailed technical reports.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment and software to ensure accuracy and repeatability.
• Develop automated test scripts to support internal and customer‑specific validation needs.
• Lead and assist in the translation of design concepts into functional prototypes, including CAD design, analysis, and dimensional validation.
• Manage lab testing procedures to verify and validate product designs for performance, reliability, and durability.
• Act as a technical liaison for customers, supporting product development, production releases, and ongoing maintenance.
• Participate in cost reduction and process improvement initiatives across divisions.
• Partner with Quality and Manufacturing teams to address supplier and internal design improvements.
• Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
• Design, develop, and maintain electrical and electro‑mechanical systems for a variety of applications.
• Prepare engineering specifications, design documentation, and project schedules for new and existing test systems.
• Identify and implement technical solutions to improve product performance and meet organizational goals.

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
• Experience: 7+ years in component or system testing within the automotive or electro‑mechanical field
