Senior Mechanical Engineer – Manufacturing Conveyance

Auburn Hills, MI (Detroit area; onsite at Belvidere, IL and Toledo, OH). Salary: $–$.

• Primary technical authority for all mechanical conveyor system design, installation, and validation across assembly, paint, and body shop manufacturing areas.
• Lead technical discussions, oversee design validation, and ensure compliance with industry standards throughout all project phases.
• Perform and review engineering studies, including cording studies, chain pull calculations, drive studies, vertical curve analysis, and cycle time evaluations.
• Review, evaluate, and approve contractor and supplier design drawings to ensure technical accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain compliance with applicable industry safety, fire protection, and ventilation requirements.
• Collaborate closely with project management and cross‑functional engineering teams to support program execution.
• Ensure all designs align with detailed engineering requirements and established industry installation standards.

• Minimum of 15 years of experience supporting automotive or industrial manufacturing projects.
• At least 10 years of hands‑on experience with conveyor system installation, design, and implementation.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution (or equivalent demonstrated project experience).
• Advanced proficiency in 2D AutoCAD for mechanical and conveyor system design.
• Comprehensive understanding of conveyor engineering standards and best practices.
• Strong working knowledge of applicable safety, fire protection, and ventilation codes and standards.
• Ability to lead technical reviews, mentor team members, and support structured engineering processes.
