  • Lead Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) activities, including Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans for new product launches.
  • Conduct internal audits and support supplier quality audits to ensure adherence to ISO/IATF 16949 standards and customer-specific requirements (CSRs).
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and suppliers to implement corrective actions and preventive measures (CAPA) for non-conformances.
  • Perform capability studies (Cp/Cpk), gage R&R, and measurement system analysis (MSA) to validate processes and equipment.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies (e.g., DMAIC projects) to reduce scrap, rework, and warranty claims.
  • Prepare and present quality reports, including PPAP submissions, to customers and management.
  • Support safety and environmental compliance in alignment with plant operations in Sterling Heights.
  • Train production staff on quality standards and procedures to foster a culture of quality ownership.
Education and Experience Required

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality engineering within the automotive industry, preferably in a Tier 1 or OEM supplier environment.
  • Strong knowledge of automotive core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, and SPC.
  • Certification in ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt, or equivalent is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in quality management software (e.g., Minitab, QI Macros) and ERP systems (e.g., SAP or similar).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action implementation.
  • Familiarity with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and AIAG standards.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing plant setting, including occasional travel to suppliers or customer sites (up to 10%).
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and data-driven decision-making.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume production environment with tight deadlines.
  • Leadership potential to mentor junior staff and lead quality projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint) for reporting and presentations.
